Pawn and Co., the first bar in the Universe where everything is for sale, from the chair you sit on to the glass you hold, to the 1940's taxidermy albino kangaroo.

1806 is a unique experience similar to a restaurant,except with awsome cocktails. We offer full table service only and can comfortably seat groups of up to 4 people with or without a reservation. We do have limited seating available for large groups in the main bar area for up to 10 people (advanced booking is essential to avoid dissapointment).

Accessed through a wardrobe door the Understudy takes you on a journey of the senses. Reservations for The Understudy can be made for those wishing to partake in our Cocktail Degustation Menu. Available Thurs-Sat, 7-10pm. If you have ever wondered what lies beyond the looking glass, take the journey down into the Understudy to find out!

From the moment you walk through Back Bar’s door, you sense an air of style and sophistication. The room is exquisitely fashioned with a richly coloured Axminster carpet, ornate couches, gilded mirrors, flocked wallpaper and a pressed metal ceiling reminiscent of the glitz and glamour of the 1920’s.

At Back Bar you can sit and relax in what feels like your own private and decadent lounge room while sipping on one of over 60 cocktail creations on offer like ‘Bangkok Fire’, ‘The Parisian’ or ‘Le Pink Bits’, or you can chill out with a cold beer and a few mates while contemplating your next move in a game of chess or backgammon.

Back Bar has a unique style and ambience far removed from the cold ultra modern image of many other cocktail bars. Its dim lamp lighting and open fireplace radiate warmth throughout providing that perfect place to escape the cold of a Melbourne winters day whilst warming with a glass of red.
As cosy and glamorous as Back Bar may appear on a week day, when the weekend arrives it takes on a whole new dimension, transforming with style offering a vivacious atmosphere where locals, corporate executives and celebrities come to release the tension of a working week.

Functions and Events

Creativity, experience and attention to detail, a function at Back Bar is seamlessly designed just for you. Whether you are looking to celebrate a birthday, engagement, hens party, or just a get together with friends, Back Bar’s function rooms offer two of the most unique and stylish function rooms Melbourne has to offer.

Back Bar have two function rooms available. The Red Lounge with a capacity 60 guests and the larger Gold Lounge with a capacity for 110 guests. Both function rooms have a fully stocked cocktail bar, are air-conditioned and have their own bathroom facilities. Both rooms are licensed until 3am Thursday to Saturday (or on the eve of a public holiday) and until 1am other days.

Choose to hire one of our function rooms privately for your celebration, or simply book in with a guest list, we offer a number of options for hosting your event.

Private hire of our function rooms includes security on the front door as well as use of all of the room’s facilities. Bring your own music along on an iPod which can plug directly into our sound system, or arrange for a Dj to play with a complete set of Dj equipment available for use. You may also like to have a slide show of photos playing in the background with two TV screens located in each of our function rooms. There is also a microphone available for speeches.

Back Bar offer an extensive canapé menu to cater for your function’s food requirements, whilst you are welcome to bring your own celebration cake along.

CRU is best understood when you've seen all its colours. Start your day with a coffee, breakfast, and the day's paper, served by familiar faces. Kick back in the afternoon with man's best friend in our sunny courtyard, while enjoying a burger and an ice-cold beer. As the sun gets low, come talk shop with our resident 'wine guy' in the cosy front bar over a glass of something red, just before sitting down to a beautiful dinner in our Private Dining Room.

FUNCTIONS & EVENTS

From 10 - 150, we'd love to host your event, whatever it may be: milestone birthdays, school functions, even weddings. To meet your needs, we offer a Private Dining Room with it's own balcony & sound system, the Courtyard + the affectionately named "Shed," and when the rest is not enough, the entire venue is available.

Hidden away above BarNone and signposted very subtly, we offer some of the most surprising and welcome city views in the east, this discreet and understated manner being at the very heart of our charm.

With six rotating beers on tap and constant keg changes, we pride ourselves on our craft beer range. The extensive list offers both locally-brewed and imported craft beer and cider – the perfect bevvies to complement any of our southern-style dishes.

Some local brewers often featured on tap include Red Hill, Kaiju, Wolf of the Willows, Exit, Holgate Brewery, Moo Brew, Hargreaves Hill and many more. We also like to think we offer something for everyone, if your drink of choice isn’t beer trust us we have you covered.

Our menu is driven by distinct southern flavours – think Buffalo Chicken Wings, Spicy Quesadillas, Flavoursome Gumbo and Beef Debris. Hearty and soulful, our menu transports you to balmy, downtown New Orleans.
